We would like to update you on a significant change related to the supported operating systems that is coming with the next major OrCAD, Allegro, and Sigrity release in 2015. We know that 2015 seems a long way off, but this information is important as it may require an OS upgrade and possibly planning with your IT organization.
! W7 P; ^3 }+ ]% r3 R$ v( A0 k1 wStarting with the 17.0 release, all OrCAD, Allegro, and Sigrity products will only function on 64-bit operating systems.! B3 m6 H5 c8 r4 N; Y
The only operating systems that will be supported with 17.0 release are:' l7 w: ]; y( ^1 I& z+ u
• Windows 7 64-bit
; W2 r% M' x$ T# h4 N• Windows 8 64-bit
, ~1 x2 s" |1 |• Redhat Linux 64-bit (Allegro PCB Editor, PCB Router, PCB SI and Sigrity only)! c" o: n3 t4 K3 ]0 {5 b8 m
• Susie Linux 64-bit (Allegro PCB Editor, PCB Router, PCB SI and Sigrity only)! n( y) A$ z0 Z5 {$ d# ~7 B6 }" d5 t# B
Please note that Windows XP 64-bit and Windows Vista 64-bit will NOT supported. Also note that the 17.0 release will NOT install on a 32-bit operating system.) C) p' o- Q+ V0 ~ S* A+ H0 k
The advantages of OrCAD, Allegro, and Sigrity products on a 64-bit operating system include improved performance on large designs when performing compute intensive tasks such as:
- r9 B2 O# }3 g• DRC … especially full design batch DRC, z' u3 f5 c1 _! N9 U
• Large area fills and regeneration
% \6 X, T" y9 H! o0 S" d( q• Routing … especially with Design Planning
; Y4 a, D# w. o3 |' F" ?( A* X' ]! A• Large or detailed Signal Integrity / Power Integrity analysis simulations _; t2 Y$ x7 z7 ]" P5 ]
• Large or detailed PSpice circuit analysis
