This first section is meant to get a user up and running as quickly as possible. It touches / L- @& ]2 a) P0 I
on multiple topics that are detailed later, and is meant for application and a quick understanding. + T5 {! P, o$ h# {& V
That being said, I think all users should look through this section and make sure they understand

The last portion of Getting Started covers analyzing results, which is an integral part of
5 k" q" E1 L0 c& n; z( e+ s' ~6 gentering constraints. One can't enter core timing or I/O constraints without being able to read the + U" B* P" k. c9 n* X0 a
analysis reports, so it is recommended to read that section in conjunction with the information at

Within Quartus, there are a number of quick steps for setting up your design with
) }5 `# [# `% h$ N% uTimeQuest. These are accessed through the pull-down menu Assignments -> Settings:

1) Along the left panel, select Timing Analysis Settings and select the "Use TimeQuest…" radio 9 I+ q+ \4 L+ q. ]4 c$ \
button. The Classic Timing Analyzer is the old timing analysis engine, which is not 5 p) D4 C4 z8 ~2 t
recommended for any new designs or architectures, and will eventually become obsolete.

2) Select TimeQuest Timing Analyzer in the left panel. The screenshot should look like below, & G0 |9 i: H6 J3 v
whereby the user can add a new SDC file. SDC stands for Synopsys Design Constraint, which is
7 ^4 x3 r' |# x9 |+ o/ l) p! K6 hthe format TimeQuest uses, along with many other tools. If no .sdc file exists, we will create it ' O+ x) Y+ N9 b. l" B# ]
